When investing in a Ferris wheel project, choosing a suitable Ferris wheel requires a comprehensive consideration of economic benefits, target customer groups, site conditions and long-term operational needs.
Here are some of my personal insights. We can discuss them together
Several factors influencing the cost of Ferris wheels:
1、The height of the Ferris wheel is beyond doubt. The higher the Ferris wheel, the greater the cost and the higher the price.
Secondly, the style of the Ferris wheel mainly includes the style of the wheel disk, the style of the columns, and the style of the pods, all of which affect the cost.
2、The wheel style of the Ferris wheel:
1）The early Ferris wheels were of truss structure. The main advantages of the truss-structured Ferris wheel are: it adopts a multi-point support structure, which has good load-bearing capacity and stability, and the lighting effect is particularly beautiful. Secondly, the truss structure is composed of multiple trusses, which is relatively compact and convenient for transportation. Especially for our export orders, transportation and installation are particularly convenient. However, truss structures also have their drawbacks. During the day, they appear densely packed and not very transparent.
2）Later, on the basis of the truss structure, the straight-arm spoke Ferris wheel became popular.
The advantages are:
The structure is lightweight. The spoke wheel connects the rim and the hub through scattered spokes (such as straight arm type), which makes material utilization more efficient and may reduce the overall weight and drive energy consumption. Referring to the “lightweight and highly maneuverable” features of bicycle spoke wheels, the Ferris wheel adopts a similar design, which can optimize the structural load.
Buffering and stability: The spokes can disperse vibrations through tension release, similar to the “good shock absorption” of a bicycle’s spoked wheel, which is suitable for complex road surfaces. If a Ferris wheel encounters slight shaking during operation, the spoked structure may provide some buffering, enhancing the smoothness of the ride.
Maintenance convenience
The parts of the spoke wheel (such as spokes and rims) can be disassembled and replaced separately. Referring to the bicycle spoke wheel, “the maintenance cost is low and it can be corrected after deformation”, if the spokes or local components of the Ferris wheel are damaged, there is no need to replace them as a whole, which is convenient for maintenance.
Disadvantage: Compared with the currently popular pure pull-lock Ferris wheel, it is still not transparent enough. Its transparency lies between that of the truss Ferris wheel and the pure pull-lock Ferris wheel.
